Waukesha’s Winter Celebration – JanBoree



A staple in the Waukesha Pewaukee area, Waukesha JanBoree will soon be hosting its 33rd annual winter festival. This year’s “Game On” themed JanBoree is Jan. 26-28, 2018 with 35 games and events happening (most of which are free) throughout Waukesha County all weekend long. JanBoree attracts an impressive 20,000 people each year.

JanBoree’s games and events are quintessential wintertime in Wisconsin. You don’t want to miss out on this family-friendly weekend of fun.

Some of Waukesha JanBoree’s more popular events in year’s past have been:

  • Horse-drawn wagon rides
  • Hockey games
  • Frosty 5K Run/Walk
  • Alaskan Malamute dog pull
  • Ice skating
  • Fireworks
  • Ice sculpting
  • Penguin egg hunt (up to age five)

JanBoree Beer Garden

A heated tent and Raised Grain Brewery beer on tap makes this a stop on every beer lover’s list. There will be music all weekend and on Saturday you can test your brain-power with trivia contests and games. Guests must be at least 21 to be in the Beer Garden tent.

Comedy Sportz Show - Put Me In Coach

Get ready to laugh at these family-friendly improv comedy performances from wildly popular Comedy Sportz. Shows are 30 minutes and suitable for all ages. Seating is limited and free tickets are available at the Schuetze Recreation Center and Waukesha Parks, Recreation & Forestry (WPRF) office starting Jan. 2.

Talk aviation at Coffee Talk, 8:00 – 10:00 am.
Beginning at 10:00 am, see airplanes up close or take a flight with EAA Young Eagles offering free airplane rides to children ages eight -17 (first come, first served, weather permitting). Be briefed with instructor-led flight simulator lessons, museum tours, drone education and more.

Frozen FootGolf & S'Moor Ball (Held with or without snow)

FootGolf combines the games of golf and soccer by kicking a soccer ball into an oversize hole in the fewest amount of kicks.  Bring your own soccer ball or use one of ours.

S’MoorBall is Moor Down’s version of “Snookball,” a combination of billiards and soccer played on an oversized billiards table/field. Kick a soccer ball into the corner or side “pockets.” Balls provided and two tables/fields will be available for play.

Bags, Beer & Brats

Pick your partner to play in the exciting Bags tournament. The cost is $40 per two-person team (ages 21+).  Registration ends on Jan. 20, 2018, register your team by clicking here.  Entry into the tournament includes a brat, a beer, hand warmers and the chance to win prizes. Charles Z. Horwitz Planetarium Dinosaurs Alive

Dinosaurs Alive: Planetarium Show

Dinosaurs are brought back to life at this show at the planetarium, which explores the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs through scientifically accurate computer-generated animation.

"Game On" Family Concert

Join the Wisconsin Philharmonic for its “Game On” family concert with an instrument petting zoo and performances of “Peter and the Wolf” and “Casey at the Bat”, narrated by local celebrity Charles Benson, Anchor at TODAY’S TMJ4.

The cost is $10 for adults, kids are free and cookies and cider will be served after the concert.

Retzer Nature Center's Winter Beer Garden

Enjoy Delafield Brewhaus’ offerings and take in the Retzer Nature Center’s winter beauty. Stay toasty by the campfire and experience self-guided hikes on foot or use the free snowshoes (snow permitting).
