Minooka Park
At 579-acres, Minooka Park is the largest park in Waukesha County and is beautifully maintained, with 5 miles of mountain bike trails that lead you away from the commotion of the city. The trails consist of two loops, one for beginners and one for a little more experienced riders. The beginner loop is about one and a half miles long and is fairly easy to ride. The intermediate loop, about five miles long, has various beginner to intermediate obstacles, most of them being optional. This loop also has a good mix of tight and flowy corners.
Lake Country Trail
Trailheads are located at the Landsberg Center on Golf Rd. in Waukesha and Jefferson St. in Oconomowoc
The Lake Country Recreation Trail runs 15.2 miles from the western edge of Waukesha to Oconomowoc. Most of the trail was built on a former Milwaukee-Watertown Railway line, and is now shared with We Energies overhead electric lines. The view from the trail is mostly farmland and rolling hills, although nearby roadways are rarely out of sight. There are a few on-road stretches, including the charming downtown area of Delafield. The popular Naga-Waukee Park and Naga-Waukee golf course are located along the trail, adding to the beauty of the ride..
Lapham Peak
Lapham Peak features biking paths that range
from two miles to eight miles (with loop) and run through grassy meadows on
single and double-track paths with several areas of gravel mixed in for
excitement. The area is open to hikers, bikers, and in some places horseback
riders. The trails form a single loop, with cutoff paths to offer some
different choices of routing. The course travels through fields with long
straightaways and sweeping corners. The view from the trail is Wisconsin at its
best, with forests and fields with barns and farmhouses throughout the
landscape. The trail has a few 20-30 feet of climbs, but for the most part, the
riding is very level.
